Miranda L. Siwak
My name is Miranda Siwak and I am an experienced writer and editor for digital and print platforms, covering fashion, wellness, entertainment, and other trending lifestyle stories. Based in New York City, I previously wrote about health and wellness for Dr. Oz The Good Life and Good Housekeeping, interiors for Interior Design, all things TV for Zimbio, as well as reviewed and covered toys and pop culture gadgets for The Toy Insider, The Toy Book, and The Pop Insider. I am also the voice and editor behind the lifestyle blog, Quite Simply Miranda. As a freelance writer and editor I've contributed to various websites, blogs, and newsletters, including Zimbio, Bob Vila (Acton Media), Moms.com, NickiSwift.com, and Muehleder's Mue Blog. For these brands, I pitch, write, and edit a variety of fashion, entertainment, wellness, and general lifestyle news and feature articles. Currently, I work as a full-time staff writer for Us Weekly's digital site, where I pitch and write, and original news and evergreen articles about pop culture and entertainment, as well as conducting interviews and helping manage the site during weekend shifts.
I graduated from Elon University in North Carolina in December of 2016, where I majored in Print/Online Journalism with a minor in French. Post-graduation, I worked as a Digital Editorial Intern with DrOzTheGoodLife.com and GoodHousekeeping.com (Hearst Digital Media) where I researched, pitched, wrote, and edited healthy living and general lifestyle articles and galleries for the digital team on their custom CMS. I then worked as a web producer for Interior Design, building and editing digital and print content on their custom CMS, as well as covering news topics and producing original roundups for the site. From there, I served as an Editorial Assistant and Assistant Editor for Adventure Media & Events (previously Adventure Publishing Group), where I helped to create engaging editorial content for print and digital editions of The Toy Insider, The Toy Book, and The Pop Insider.
Previously, I worked as a Home Editorial Intern at Good Housekeeping magazine (Hearst Magazines) in New York during the summer of 2015. Then, while I studied abroad in London, England in the fall of 2015, I worked as an Editorial Intern at Absolutely Magazines (Zest Media), local lifestyle magazines based in London. In the Spring 2016, I served as a Travel Ambassador and Writer with College Tourist, writing two articles per month and engaging the brand's social media presence weekly. I spent the summer of 2016 as a Styling Intern at Brandon Maxwell Studio in New York, where I managed sample trafficking, created mood boards and assisted with styling celebrity clients.
I'm originally from St. Louis, Missouri, where I previously worked for my high school newspaper, Ladue Horton Watkins High School's Panorama, as a writer and editor. I transitioned from my high school interest in journalism into my college experience, and at Elon, I worked for The Pendulum, the student-run campus newspaper, part of Elon News Network. (The Pendulum is Elon University’s award-winning student news organization. The print edition of The Pendulum is published weekly on Wednesday mornings and updated online throughout the week.) There, I worked as a Design Intern and Design Editor in 2014 and 2015, where I used Adobe InDesign to layout spreads and work with the section editors to create innovative layouts that incorporate the subjects of the story and engages the readers, as well as creating infographics (See samples under Design). In addition, I worked as a Senior Reporter for the Lifestyle section, where I contributed a weekly article for the weekly print edition, the digital site and long-form content for the monthly campus lifestyle magazine, The Edge.
