Design Experience
Design Editor, Winter 2015 - Spring 2015
As Design Editor for "The Pendulum," it is my responsibility to work with the section editors to design spreads for the weekly edition using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, as well as working with the Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor to oversee the entire production of the issue and creating a PDF for the completed issue using Issuu.
For the Jan. 21, 2015 edition, I was responsible for laying out pages and creating infographics (examples below). I also assigned pages to the new designers to lay out during production nights and helped review the basics of working with InDesign and our newspaper formatting with them and the section editors. Once the paper was nearly finished, I worked with the Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor to correct any noticeable errors (editorially or design-wise) and then created PDFs of the entire issue to upload on Issuu.

Below is a graphic I created for the Sept. 17, 2014 edition of "The Pendulum" using Adobe Illustrator, combining the theme of the story (the app Yik Yak) alongside the statistics the reporter had found.
Below is a graphic I designed for the Oct. 29, 2014 edition of "The Pendulum," using Adobe Illustrator, where I combined the theme of the story of the theater department musical (Titanic) with audience reaction quotes that the reporter had collected.
In addition to creating the Titanic graphic above, I also worked with the Sports sections editors to design their three pages, including the two below, using Adobe InDesign.
For the Nov. 5, 2014 issue of the "The Pendulum," I designed three pages for opinions and style. Below is the opinions spread, with a graphic I created in Adobe Illustrator.
For the Nov. 19, 2014 issue of "The Pendulum," I collaborated with other designers to create the following infographics.
